Today, Carolina Forward is announcing our official endorsement of Nida Allam for Congress. She is running in the Democratic primary for North Carolina’s Fourth Congressional district.
Nida Allam, 28, is currently a Durham County Commissioner. She was the first Muslim elected to the North Carolina Democratic Party’s Executive Council and also serves on the Board of Directors of Planned Parenthood South Atlantic Votes. She has a strong command of the issues that face the Fourth district, North Carolina and America at large. Her depth, energy and positivity were obvious both in her interview with our endorsement committee as well as in the campaign she has run.
Carolina Forward decided our endorsement by a vote of our membership. The results were unambiguous: a clear majority voted to support Allam.
